The MagPin®, Magnetic Bead Replicator: Evolving with Your Proteomics Research
When we launched the MagPin®- M, (SKU: VP 407AM-N1), our mission was simple: streamline and speed up paramagnetic bead handling in high-throughput assays. But what began as a time-saving tool has quickly become an essential driver of innovation in proteomic research.
From cancer studies to viral infections, clinical diagnostics to quantitative AI modeling, scientists around the world have used the MagPin® in groundbreaking ways. It is available in a manual version MagPin®- M, (VP 407AM-N1) or can easily be incorporated into many robot systems, with the MagPin®- R, (VP 407AM- N1-R). This turns a single device into a flexible, high-performance platform that grows with your research.
Precision You Can Count On. Versatility You Didn’t Expect.
At the heart of the MagPin® are 96 ultra-strong neodymium magnetic pins, engineered to handle bead transfer and washing with exceptional accuracy and consistency. This tool reduces manual labor, minimizes bead loss, and delivers reproducible results across multiple assay types.

Our protective sleeves are special, thin-walled, 96-well PCR Plates (VP 407AM-N-PCR) which allow us to extract the beads from one microplate’s wells, and release them into a second microplate with minimal bead loss.
Used in innovative workflows like the Bead Extractor Assisted Reagent System (BEARS) (Brochers, etc al.), the MagPin® improves both the speed and purity of protein extraction, enabling scientists to obtain high-quality proteins for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) faster than ever before and is now being incorporated into clinical diagnostic studies.
Revolutionizing FFPE Tissue Analysis
A recent study published in ACS Omega has challenged long-held beliefs about Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) tissue limitations. It shows that with the right assay methods, FFPE samples can reveal the same proteins as fresh frozen specimens. That’s a game-changer, especially for labs sitting on decades of archived tissue samples.
The MagPin® ensures minimal bead loss and maximizes assay consistency. By streamlining antigen retrieval and supporting advanced workflows using MagResyn zirconium and titanium IMAC beads, it empowers researchers to access hidden proteomic data within FFPE tissues, opening the door to massive retrospective studies and biomarker discovery.
Fueling Next-Generation Proteome Research
Today, the MagPin® is also part of cutting-edge research in AI-driven organelle profiling and quantitative proteomics (Hein et al.). Used with Anti-HA magnetic beads, scientists are building detailed molecular maps to better understand viral mechanisms and cellular function.
Whether you’re decoding complex protein networks, accelerating diagnostic pipelines, or exploring new disease models, the MagPin® adapts to your science, not the other way around.
From Simplicity to Growing with Scientific Discovery
What started as a simple solution for magnetic bead handling has become a part of proteomic innovation. At V&P Scientific, we’re proud to support researchers who push boundaries—and we’re here to evolve with you.
