Library Copier Overview
All of the VP 381 Series (VP 381, VP 381A, VP 381A-1, VP 381B, VP 381M, and VP 381N) Library Copiers™ have one alignment hole and a pair of 4 alignment holes which can be used to transfer liquid from a 96 well microplate with a 96 pin MULTI-BLOT™ replicator to a 96 well recipient microplate or to one of 4 quadrants of a 384 well microplate. This ability allows the user to reformat a genomic library from 96 microplates to 384 microplates and visa versa. The VP 381, and VP 381N are designed to be used with standard-sized microplates and have alignment holes that accommodate 1.58 mm diameter guide pins on MULTI-BLOT™ replicators. The VP 381M library copier was designed to be used with “midi” sized microplates and has alignment holes that accommodate 1.58mm diameter guide pins. The VP 381A-1 has alignment holes that accommodate the 1.58mm diameter guide pins from our standard Multi-Blot Replicators so that the standard replicators can be used to inoculate cultures in deep well microplates. Although the pins on the standard replicators are shorter and will not reach the bottom of the deep well microplates they still can be used to transfer liquid to or from deep well microplates. The difference between the VP 381A-1 and the VP 381A is the size of the alignment holes (larger for the VP 381A) to accommodate the larger guide pins of deep well Replicators and the VP 381A-1 is 5mm taller. The VP 381B Library Copier™ is standard height and accommodates standard microplates and has larger diameter alignment holes to accommodate the 3.17mm diameter guide pins on the deep well MULTI-BLOT™ replicators.
