V&P Scientific’s novel idea for encapsulating magnets spawns yet another patent.
The advancements in the world of 3D-printing have grown exponentially and we have found a cost-effective use for our customers with unique magnetic mixing needs. We use a stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer to create custom shapes for magnetic stir elements. The printer uses High Temp Resin, which offers a heat stable and corrosion resistance encapsulation method. It is suitable for printing detailed, precise parts with high thermal stability and corrosion resistance. The typical PTFE molding methods of encapsulating magnets require expensive setup fees and large batch sizes to reduce the cost. The ability to capture the speed and utility of stereolithography 3D printing makes our Patent Pending method an inexpensive prototyping masterpiece for encapsulating magnetic stirrers
The stir element designs are limitless and can be used in a variety of applications, including chemical processing, food processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The NdFeBr magnets that are encapsulated are known for their high magnetic strength and resistance to demagnetization. It is not possible to use PTFE encapsulation of NdFeBr magnets because the temperature required for PTFE encapsulation will destroy the magnetism of NdFeBr. This creates an opportunity for SLA printing. The stir elements can also be made with less expensive magnets, such as SmCo, Alnico, or Magnetic Stainless Steel. Our encapsulation method will work with any solid, liquid, or gas material.
In addition to magnetic Stir elements, magnets are also used in switches, security systems, and many other applications where a simple encapsulation method would be useful.
