The VP 416-ALB-8 is a Heat Block Insert with SBS microplate dimensions that fits inside our standard VP 741 through VP 744 Heat Block series. It has a special design that minimizes the Eddy current phenomena resulting from magnetic lines of flux passing through large masses of aluminum without affecting the insert’s ability to transfer heat. The Eddy current defeating design reduces the load on the magnetic stirrer's motor and also reduces the temperature to which the aluminum insert is heated up to. This heat reduction is important in applications where the temperature of the heat insert needs to be less than 40°C. The VP 416-ALB-8 heat block insert has 8 flat bottom wells, each 25 mm in diameter. The insert comes with a lid that has holes above each well for more even heating while allowing samples to be added or removed while the lid is still in place.
